Reviews

  • Deborah Kane-Goldblatt’s capacity for discernment, for describing her experience with her photographs is simply fabulous…. Khashoggi and Marie Colvin quoted at the beginning of the book sum up the total tragedy of the Syrian country and the Syrian people.

  • Female solo travelers are few and far between. Even fewer capture their experiences in writing. Deborah Kane-Goldblatt’s “Syria Welcomes A Stranger” is an enlightening and honest read about the unique experiences faced by women traveling alone, particularly in conservative and also potentially dangerous destinations.

  • I enjoyed the stories very much; they certainly reinforced our regret at not having visited Syria years ago when we had the chance. We know that your fund-raising effort with the e-book has ended but we nonetheless donated to Help Refugees/Choose Love.

    -- Christopher Hall

  • A gorgeous glimpse inside the life and culture of the Syrian people. Kane-Goldblatt’s insightful and unique perspective, poetic prose and fantastic photographs should not be missed.

The Back Story...

In April, 2019, when my stories for Syria Welcomes A Stranger were completed, I began a storytelling campaign presenting selected stories and photographs, intended to fundraise for the UK charity Help Refugees...
